A Vibrant Research Community
Each of the Nordic countries has unique characteristics and strengths regarding aquatic bio-production and by bringing them together in a coordinated effort, SUREAQUA will create an exceptional opportunity for enhancing the Nordic presence within the aquatic sector, building knowledge and finding solutions in order to contribute to sustainable resource utilisation and value creation.
Close to 40 partners will participate in the Centre’s activities including universities, research centres, industry, and interest groups/non-governmental organisations. The collective research expertise spans a range of backgrounds from environmental monitoring, to biotechnology and nanotechnology, economics and sociology. Our industry partners bring a complementary array of expertise from aquatic bio-production, including feed companies, aquaculture operators, technology providers, and those interested in value creation from alternative resources, and by-products. Stakeholder engagement is key to developing a proactive, sustainable, profitable, and acceptable bioeconomy. As such, the SUREAQUA consortium also includes representatives from local councils, environmental agencies, and non-governmental organisations.
With this comprehensive collection of partners, SUREAQUA is able to span the entire aquatic value chain and bridge the gap from idea inception to marketplace.
